Silver medal Pour Feliciter 2012 proof It was interesting to learn that the first Czech documented Happy Holiday Season card (in Czech called the PF card) issued in 1606 was shaped as a coin and the wish was written in German. The French words Pour Féliciter, which in fact are not used by the French, began to be most likely used as the Czech Christmas and New Year’s wish in the 17th and 18th centuries when the French language was spoken by the upper classes. And it was particularly creative artists who have been spreading the PF cards ever since. This one was designed by creative artist Luboš Charvát.The obverse side of the medal features a clock face and a calendar as aids used by the man to measure time. The calender shows the last page with the last day of the year and peaking up beneath it is the first day of the new year. The clock hands are also approaching midnight – symbolizing the frozen moment when the old ends and the new begins. All this is underlined by the inscripion Pour Féliciter – freely translated For Luck – and the current year. The reverse side contains a poem comprising the specific wishes arranged in a spiral. The clock face illustrates that the wish is for unlimited time. The coin-shaped seasonal greetings medal given to our kin and friends is a nice way of expressing our best wishes for the new year.Unlimited edition.
