Ducat depicting Margrave Jost Replica of the ducat of Jost from the House of Luxembourg (1351–1411), Margrave of Moravia and Brandenburg, who was elected King of the Romans. Jost was the eldest son of Margrave John Henry of Moravia (younger brother of Emperor Charles IV). After his father’s death in 1375 he took over the rule of Moravia, while his younger brother Procopius inherited part of the territory. Jost had a reputation of being shrewd and greedy, but at the same time the most learned prince of the period who was successful in expanding his territory. He was the last independent Margrave of Moravia from the House of Luxembourg. The obverse side of the ducat features a stylized figure of Margrave Jost and in circumscription text in Latin; at the rim it is decorated by astragal (pearl moulding). The reverse side shows Margrave Jost‘s coat-of-arms surrounded by text in Latin and astragal. Limited edition 500 pcs.
