Hurvínek: „Daddy, when was I born?” Spejbl: „May 2nd, Hurvínek.“ Hurvínek: "Wow, what a coincidence, just on my birthday!" 90 years ago, a little figure of the kid named Hurvínek, was first introduced to the audiences and the life of Mr Spejbl has fundamentally changed. A muddled, forever dissatisfied grump and a confirmed bachelor was put in charge of a mischievous rascal, who rolls his eyes and makes fun of his caring daddy. It should be added, that Spejbl exaggerates his care a bit, but even so, he deserves a silver commemorative coin issued to mark the anniversary of his wooden son. It is not exactly known, when Spejbl was born. We only know, that it was in Pilsen at the turn of 1919 and 1920, when he was designed by the puppeteer Josef Skupa and carved by Karel Nosek. The creators gave to the puppet a head bald as a knee, a large nose and even larger ears, a bulging eyes, a necessary tail-coat, wooden clogs and gloves. Initially, was Spejbl a theater partner of a popular character Kašpárek and had an ungrateful role of an obtuse bourgeois. The two figures, however, did not fit together very well and plays with a lone Spejbl were not so good either. A needed boost has brought his shrinked and technically perfect copy, which was given the name Hurvínek and eventually adopted the role of his son. The author of the artistic design of the silver coin is a talented medaillist from Jablonec Irena Hradecká, DiS., which has on her account a wide range of a fairytale realizations - besides Hurvínka came out of her workshop for example Křemílek with Vochomůrka or the fairy Amálka. The reverse of the coin is dedicated to the name and the bust of Mr. Spejbl with his typical comically fallible expression. The Smart coins are issued under the license of the Pacific island NIUE ISLAND, and the the obverse side then belongs to the following attributes of the issuer: the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II., the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the the year of issue 2016. If you have bought Hurvínek’s coin, you have also received a collectible album along with it. Remember, Spejbl has his place in it, too!
