If any Czech interpreter of popular music could equally compete with high Karel Gott, then it was certainly Waldemar Matuška. And not just regarding singing talent, but also the popularity among the groupies, which the two friends had to share throughout their lifetime. It is therefore obvious that the second of  the medal of pure gold, weighing one-half ounce from the series Nightingales in gold will belong just to handsome, curly haired Waldemar Matuška. Waldemar Matuška inherited the extraordinary talent and love towards singing  from his mother, an operetta singer Marie Malinová. On the boards that mean the world he also started his singing career. The first contract he signed in the season 1957-1958 , being 25-years old, in Prague Reduta, where he met the couple Suchý-Šlitr. A year later they lured him to the emerging theatre Semafor, that soon made Matuška a star, rapidly rising through the ranks of popularity. After the decision not to return, with his wife Olga Blechová, from the performances in the USA in 1986, the regime tried to cover the tracks of "Walda`s" existence. However, he also performed in the USA for compatriots and in 1989 - to the delight of the home audience – he made his stage comeback in the Czech Republic. When the Czech Mint has opened a series Nightingales in gold with the issue dedicated to Karel Gott, the interest in them was so huge, that it was soon out of stock. Do not miss another exceptional investment opportunity and save your money into half-ounce gold medal in top proof quality, designed by the excellent medallist MgA. Martin Dašek.
