The Czech Mint continues the tradition of coinage in Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia with its activities and pays tribute to the extraordinary skills of the ancient masters. Their emissions of accurate replicas of ancient coins remind their skills. After the series of silver thalers called Tribute to historical mints come gold ducats – an original series! The ducats of three Prince electors. The title Prince elector gave the Imperial prince the right to elect the King of the Holy Roman Empire and their coins had to be extraordinary. Life of Franz Ludwig von Pfalz-Neuburg, born in 1664, was clearly predetermined by his noble origin. He was the sixth son and his life was focused on his career of spiritual aristocrat until he satisfied ambitions of his family`s politics - among other things he became the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, the Archbishop and ultimately the spiritual Elector of Mainz. The extraordinary ducat iconographically symbolizes the gratitude for higher sacred and secular patronage. A lion on a leash led by God's hand next to a portrait of Franz is a proof of that. The author of a replica is a medal matador sculptor Jan Lukas. The ducat is stored in a luxurious illustrated blister, which represents Franz Ludwig as a coin lord, Archbishop and Prince elector. The coat of arms and the design of that historical ducat is analyzed in detail. Writer and expert guarantor of the project is Miroslav Myšák, a genuine expert from The Kromeříž Coin Cabinet. The part of the series will be two more ducats dedicated to other spiritual Prince electors – from Cologne and Trevír. Together, they will constitute a unique and historical testimony that you cannot miss in your collection.
