From the series: Tribute to Historical Mints The replica of the oldest Český Krumlov thaler of Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg ranks among the most elaborate portrait coins struck during the Thirty Years War in Europe. The obverse side features the bust of the issuer, with text in circumscription in Latin translating as: Hans Ulrich, by the Grace of God duke of Krumlov, prince of Eggenberg. The reverse side shows Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg’s coat of arms in an oval cartouche, wrapped in the order of the golden fleece, with a ducal crown. Next to the Eggenberg family coat of arms which is situated in the centre of the heraldic composition, the coat of arms is formed by heraldic signs of lands held at the period by the Eggenbergs on Czech and Slovenian territories – the duchy Český Krumlov, earldom Postojná, earldom Ptuj and dominion Radgona. The text in circumscription containing titles continues from the obverse side: earl of Postojné, lord of Ehrenhausen, 1629. prof.
